Eight years have passed since SOUNDBLOKS last partied at Roskilde Festival’s infamous campsite. A lot has happened in that time.

The COVID pandemic. This century’s best film Parasite. Queen Margarethe’s abdication. Olympic and World champions crowned. Countless scandals, feel-good stories, and everything in between.

Seismic moments like these have shaped the world and rewritten history. It felt like time to add another to the list.

We sent our in-house roving reporter to cover the reopening of a Roskilde Festival icon. Here’s what he saw with his own two eyes.

[08:13]
Finalllly. What took that train so long? Kinda surprised there weren’t more people pushing crates of beer through the station. Responsible raving, I guess. Anyway. Now to find the bus and get a wristband.

[08:24]
Two wrong turns later. Opens Rejsekort app. Swipes in. We’re on the road again.

[08.26]
Not gonna get me this time, inspector. The guy next to me can’t say the same. Meltdown.

[08.39]
Wristband secured. Let’s gooooo! Loads up festival map. Locates SOUNDBLOK. It’s business time. I wonder what the squad are up to.

[08.42]
First Soundboks spotted and jheez is it beaten up. Must’ve seen some things in this campsite. Clearly not a stranger to the campsite

[09.07]
Two wrong turns and one locked gate later. Arrive at SOUNDBLOK. Is that 12 Soundboks 4s linked up together? Already got people handing in their speakers. Good to see the workshop is up and running.

[09.33]
Campsite coffee hits different. You can see who needs it, too. I’m not naming names, but it must’ve been a late one at Dream City.

[09.48]
Another customer. Another Soundboks that’s got a few stories to tell. You’re in safe hands now, bud. Let’s get you a much-needed glow up.

[10.07]
The whole team is here now. Daily brief completed. Roles understood. Locked in. Focused. Ready to play ball.

[10.33]
Side quest: I’ve been sent to To Øl to pick up some beers. God gives his hardest battles to his bravest soldiers.

[10.34]
Wow. Some of these camps are wreckeddd. Already got groups playing beer bowling. The kinda commitment you love to see.

[10.49]
Made it to To Øl. Big fan of their setup and bar. Super friendly crew, too. Had to promise I wouldn’t drink all of these at once. Classic.

[11.14]
Arrive back at SOUNDBLOK. Beers safe and sound. Mission accomplished.

[12:00]
Draber666 arrives at midday on the dot. Punctual guy. Let’s see if his mixing is also in-time. Get it? In-time? I’ll see myself out.

[12.22]
Looks like the Sound Patrol are back at base now, too. Can’t wait to see what kinda interviews and content they captured for Repair TV.

[12.49]
Bit of a crowd gathering now. The energy’s beginning to rise. Can he follow on from where Zaymie left off?

[13.02]
Starting off with your own track? Fair play.

[13.23]
Plenty of dancers getting down and dirty. These tunes are definitely grabbing the attention of passers-by.

[13.29]
Banger! Nothing beats big tunes on an even bigger sound system. Syncing 12 Soundboks 4s was always gonna be fun.

[13.33]
Is that a pair of Lightning McQueen Crocs? WHAT ARE THOSEEEE?!

[13.58]
ENCORE! ENCORE!

[14.03]
What a journey! Set some high levels for Mwah to pick up from.

[14.06]
Okay time for a bit of lunch. Flæskestegssandwich incoming. Yeh, Danes might be scared of spicy food. But you can’t say they don’t know flavor.

[14.51]
There’s a queue! Time to go lay all our supplies out. T-shirts, totes, and grills up for grabs. Wonder how long they’ll last.

[15.01]
Customization station is officially up and running.

[15.12]
Bansky spotted!! Wipes glasses. Ahhh no, false alarm.

[15.20]
Someone’s using beer to erase spray paint. That’s a first. Creative hacks like that are well worth remembering.

[15.31]
STOCK IS LOW.

[15.49]
Final few T-shirts up for grabs now. No more grills on offer. Apologies to anyone that turned up late. You’ll have to come back tomorrow.

[15.52]
STOCK IS OUT.

[16.33]
Lots of people are personalizing their own things now. Love to see the creativity on display here. No stock, no problem.

[16.47]
Our final customizer puts the last touches to their design. Artiste is an understatement. The attention to detail? The expression? Get out of here!

[17.02]
The repair crew are still putting in that work. Constant sound of drilling fills the air. Can’t stop the hustle.

[17.12]
Cracks open a fresh To Øl beer. Reclines into camp chair. I’ve earned this even if I do say so myself. The team killed it today. Everything went smooth. Content captured. Products repaired. A good day at SOUNDBLOK.

[17.54]
My FOMO is kicking in now. All this talk about Dream City and concerts. I gotta be in the office tomorrow. Life isn’t fair sometimes.

[18.13]
Goodbye, SOUNDBLOK. See you next year. Now for the long walk to the train station. Wish me luck.

[18.29]
Proud employee moment. It’s insane how many Soundboks there are across the campsite. I swear you can’t turn your head without seeing one. So cool to see them flooding the birthplace of SOUNDBOKS year after year.

[18.47]
Roskilde, it’s been real. Time to return to reality.
